2012 Side Events

Call for Side Event Proposals

Proposals for side events, such as meetings, workshops, networking sessions, training courses or open forums, are now open for submission for the 2012 Water and Health Conference: Science, Policy and Innovation. Side events are an opportunity for individuals or groups to bring together a range of stakeholders to focus on one's own specific area of interest in the format of their choice. The content and format is entirely the responsibility of the event organizers, as well as recruiting presenters and marketing workshops. Accepted events will be listed in the conference agenda and briefly described in conference materials, but not otherwise promoted by the conference hosts.

While event themes are at the choosing of the organizers, they should be related to the conference themes:

  • Monitoring and Evaluation for Sustainability
  • Ecosystem Protection and Drinking Water Safety
  • Beyond 2012: Realizing Universal Access and Human Rights
  • Household-centered WaSH
  • Making Sanitation Benefits Achievable and Sustainable for All
  • WaSH and Child Health
  • Southeastern U.S. Water Challenges
  • Water, Energy and Climate

Important Reminder

  • Side Event Proposals Due:
    30 April 2012

The duration of sessions may be half (3.5 hours) or full day (7 hours). There is no cost to organize and host a side event, however because space is limited proposals must include in addition to the proposed content, information about marketing the event, the anticipated audience, the event type and the expected outcome of the event.

Conference registration includes attendance at all side events that take place during the conference week, however a 'workshop only' conference rate is available for those attendees who only wish to attend side events.

For each accepted event, one complimentary conference registration will be made available to the organizer.

Available Dates and Times for Events Pre- or Post- Conference

In addition to the conference week, the weekend prior (October 27 and 28) and post (November 3 and 4) conference are available for closed events to be held at the Friday Center.

A minimum guaranteed participation of 20 people is needed to host a weekend event.
