About Side Events

2011 side event

Proposals for side events, such as meetings, workshops, networking sessions, training courses or open forums, are now open for submission for the 2013 Water and Health Conference: Where Science Meets Policy. Side events are an opportunity for individuals or groups to bring together a range of stakeholders to focus on one’s own specific area of interest in the format of their choice.

The content and format is entirely the responsibility of the event organizers, as well as recruiting presenters and marketing workshops. All side event speakers and attendees must register for the Conference and any additional expenses are the responsibility of the side event conveners. Meeting rooms and audio/visual equipment will be provided by the Conference organizers. Accepted events will be listed in the conference agenda and briefly described in conference materials, but not otherwise promoted by the conference hosts.

While event themes are at the choosing of the organizers, they should be related to the conference themes:

  • Hygiene and behavioral change
  • M&E: local, global, and human right perspectives
  • Institutions, finance, and sustainability
  • Sanitation and health
  • Water supply and quality: from catchment to consumer and back

Events will be held in conference rooms at the Friday Center. Two room sizes are available set up in a classroom format: small and large. Small has a capacity of 42 people and large has a capacity of 94. Rooms are equipped with a lectern, a computer, and LCD projector. Room availability is limited.

The duration of sessions may be quarter (1.5 hours), half (3 hours) or full day (6 hours).

There is no cost to organize and host a side event, however because space is limited, proposals must include in addition to the proposed content, information about marketing the event, the anticipated audience, the event type and the expected outcome of the event.

The deadline to submit side event proposals for the 2013 Water and Health Conference is April 30th, 2013.
